How do I build my resilience?
At this event, our guest speakers were Ola Papiór, Kenrick H2O Sandy MBE, and Dr Lucie Clements. We explored different aspects of resilience as dancers and performers: How can we build it? What resources do we already have? How can we maintain and expand it?
Event timeline
The sessions will be run by specialists with dance career backgrounds as well as psychology, performance psychology, dance, coaching, well-being, and more. We'll end the workshop part with a Q&A session. You’ll leave this day with a refreshed understanding of how to take care of yourself on your journey.
10:00 - 11:00am (Interactive Workshop) - YOUR UNIQUE SET OF TOOLS with Ola Papiór
During this session, we uncover what builds us through two different lenses - the human and the dancer. We’ll use these views to reach new conclusions, reassure, and connect the dots. We’ll dive deeper to understand what tools we already have within ourselves and what we still need to build our resilience and advance despite adversity.
11:15am - 12:45pm (Interactive lecture) - RIDING THE WAVE OF DANCE WITH RESILIENCE AND WELLBEING with Dr Lucie Clements
We will have space to reflect on and explore the reality of managing the instability of life in dance and navigating the ups and downs of the career. You'll learn tips for managing setbacks, ways to manage high expectations and perfectionistic thoughts and focus on developing a healthy self-view as a dancer and creative.
1:00pm - 2:30pm (Interactive Lecture) - CLARITY, CONFIDENCE, COMMITMENT with Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy MBE
This lecture helps to explore the clarity, confidence and commitment we need as artists.
Looking at various perspectives and processes that can be applied to further our development and reach our goals. We'll be creating a space to discuss, reflect, and evaluate as individuals and in a group setting.
2:30pm - 3:30pm - Q&A with all the Guest Speakers
3:30pm - 4:00pm - Free space for talks and networking.
